What did you like about the book? Bear has been sitting on a park bench since dawn waiting for his best friend, Goliath. Bear says that Goliath is strong and smart. Bear dozes off while waiting and Robin says, “Your Goliath isn’t coming.” “Of course he is”, says Bear. A bus pulls up but no one gets out, still Bear waits. The birds fly south and snow begins to fall and still Bear waits. He sleeps through the winter and guess what?! Goliath has arrived! You will just have to find and read this book to discover who Goliath is! The illustrations appear to part drawing and part prop and part paper-cut out. They are wonderfully unique and charming. A quite wonderful book.

Anything you did not like about this book? One of those super rare ones…

To whom would you recommend this book? I think kids would love this story for its silliness and Bear’s patience and finally finding out just who Goliath is. Great for one-on-one but also for storytime.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes!
