Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

What did you like about the book? A different bird is shown on each two-page spread of this beautifully illustrated over-size book (13” x 9 ¼”). And in each illustration is a body part of a black cat until we reach the end to discover Plume, a beautiful black cat that collects feathers. This is a sublime introduction to the beauty of birds.

Anything you did not like about this book? Not a thing.

To whom would you recommend this book? Children will love finding the wee bit of cat on each page of a bird illustration. This is also a nice introduction to the world and diversity of birds.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes!
