Welcome Home, Baby (New Books for Newborns)  by Abigail Tabby and illustrated by Sam Williams, Simon & Schuster, 9781534401037, 2017

Format: Board book

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

What did you like about the book? This is another book in the series of newborn books. It is designed as the first book a mother reads to her newborn and the cover instructs the mother to snuggle up with the baby and just read. The words are written in verse and the  illustrations show a baby being introduced into his new house. It shows the hallway where he’ll take his first steps, and the dining room where he’ll take his first bite. It is a calming book that will grow with the baby. Older children will love the illustrations and will start to understand the text.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about this book

To whom would you recommend this book?  infants

Who should buy this book? Public libraries, elementary school libraries, day care centers

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes

Reviewer’s Name, Library (or school), City and State: Sandra Pacheco, ESL teacher Washington, DC.
