The Construction Crew by Lynn Meltzer and illustrated by Carrie Eko-Burgess, Henry Holt and Co., 9781250112675, 2017

Format: Board book

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

What did you like about the book? This interactive construction book is perfect for a child who loves construction vehicles. The construction crew tears down a building, builds a new one and gets the house ready for a new family to move into. I especially liked the format of the book where the child is given a problem and then asked which construction vehicle was necessary for the job. This book would work well as a read aloud book, as the illustrations are bold and the answers to the questions are written in a different color. I also liked how the book included the new family that moved into the house.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about this board book.

To whom would you recommend this book?  Children ages 1-3

Who should buy this book? Public libraries, elementary school libraries, day care centers

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes

Reviewer’s Name, Library (or school), City and State: Sandra Pacheco, ESL teacher Washington, DC.
