Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4
What did you like about the book? Aside from the fact that I love all Keith Baker’s “pea” books, this has to rate as one of the best alphabet books I have read. First, I like the fact that the letters are written in lower case, a pre-reading necessity. I also liked how there were only a few examples of things of that letter on each page, starring a pea. The book is written in verse, making it a sing-songy book for very young children.
Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about this book except that sometimes the rhyming was forced, which caused me to give it a 4 instead of a 5.
To whom would you recommend this book? This book is for pre-readers who are learning the alphabet and sounds. It is also a necessary addition to any home library that has the other books by Keith Baker.
Who should buy this book? Public libraries and elementary school libraries
Where would you shelve it? Picture books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
