What did you like about the book? This is a really cute story of two friends who fall in love. Maddie wins the lottery during a really hard time in her life- her brother has to leave college, her parents are constantly fighting, and they have no money. All of a sudden, Maddie has more “friends” than she ever thought she had. She learns that people, including family, use her just because she is now a multimillionaire. Her friend Seth, however, treats her the way he always has and through some struggles, they end up together.
I really enjoyed looking into how a normal and average family might behave if someone in the immediate family did win the lottery. We learn that money does not necessarily mean all your problems are gone and it doesn’t make you happy.
Anything you didn’t like about it? There is nothing I didn’t like.
To whom would you recommend this book? I would recommend this book to teens and adults who like to read teen books. Any other books by Kasie West and books by Jennifer E. Smith are a few read-a-likes.
Who should buy this book? YA library
Where would you shelve it? fiction
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? no
