What did you like about the book? In Beartown hockey is everything, the most important thing. Beartown has been declining but this year the hockey team is going to win, filled with exceptional players like Kevin, Benji, Amat and Bobo. Each player has a story, as does each player’s family. This story is very well fleshed out. When the star player rapes the daughter of the team’s manager and the incident is viewed by the newest, youngest member of the team you can bet there is going to be big trouble. The intrigues are fascinating. This is a page-turner, filled with an extraordinary number of praiseworthy characters.

Anything you did not like about this book? No!

To whom would you recommend this book? Many teens will be attracted to this story with the themes of acceptance, perseverance, individuality and imperfection. There are so many characters to root for.

Who should buy this book? High school and public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Fiction

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes.
