Beep Beep Beep Time For Sleep! – Claire Freedman, illustrated by Richard Smythe, Aladdin, (9781481490115), 2017

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1- 5 (5 is excellent or a Starred review) 3

Genre:  Picture Book

What did you like about the book?  Rhyming text tells the story of a group of construction trucks working on the highway.  “It’s been a busy working day, road building on the highway. Heavy trucks thunder past. Vans and cars, all driving fast.”  The text tells what each piece of equipment does including a backhoe loader, digger, dump truck, cement mixer, plow truck and grader.  As night falls, the workers drive the trucks back to wash them up and park them for the night.  The truck drivers are a mix of ethnicities and sexes.  The illustrations in bright primary colors perfectly complement the text.  A nice choice for children who love trucks.

Anything you didn’t like about it?  No

To whom would you recommend this book?  This is a great good night story for children enamored of trucks.

Who should buy this book?  Public libraries and elementary school libraries

Where would you shelve it?  Picture Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this at the top of our “to read” piles?   No
