What did you like about the book? Hattie loves to row her canoe on the lake while enjoying the wildlife around her. Her happiness bubbles out in a cheery song that lures out a giant green Loch Ness-type creature from his hiding place in the depths of the lake. Hattie can tell he is gentle, but the grownups are afraid. They won’t listen to Hattie and instead make plans to capture the creature. That night, Hattie sneaks out to meet the creature. She gives him a name, Hudson, and they work together to hatch a plan to prove that Hudson isn’t dangerous. Their plan works perfectly, and a final scene shows Hudson surrounded by swimmers and serving as a giant slide for many of them.
