Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? The lovable, curious, and adventurous Ladybug Girl returns in a storybook with her Grandpa and the natural history museum.  Ladybug girl wants to learn everything, but her Grandpa helps her understand that taking your time can lead to an even better experience (and they can always come back to the museum again!).

This latest installment in the series acknowledges a common behavior in little ones and addresses how to deal with the overwhelming feeling of being surrounding by so many new and exciting things.  Readers also explore a loving inter-generational relationship and encounter the contrast of Ladybug Girl’s enthusiasm with her grandpa’s patience, bringing the two together in a fun and enlightening day.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No complaints about this beautiful story.  I only wish there was a “Day Out with Grandma” that had been released at the same time!

To whom would you recommend this bookRecommended for preschool through Kindergarten (both readers and listeners).  Fans of the series will enjoy this addition and grandparents will enjoy having a beautiful story to share with their loved ones.

Who should buy this book? Childrens’ library collections (public and school)

Where would you shelve it ? Picture book collection

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Not really necessary.  This would be a good addition to a storytime about outings or families, however.

Reviewer’s Name, Library (or school), City and State: Melissa McCleary, Pembroke Public Library, Pembroke, MA
