What did you like about the book? This is a story of parental love. A baby gorilla is born and the parents muse: “We looked upon you, impossible you, and we felt everything. Who would you be? Who would we be?” As one parent dreams, they envision the future of the child, all the milestones, all the adventures as well as all the heartaches to come. The parent imagines the child setting off on their own someday, before awaking to the infant in the crib. The watercolor illustrations, accented with bamboo pen and India ink, depict a semi-anthropomorphized gorilla family. The young gorilla is surrounded by dots of lavender, aqua and gold to illustrate possibility. This is a sweet story for parents of newborns that would make a lovely bedtime read aloud.
