What did you like about the book?  In rhyming text, the reader finds Cuddly Cow trying to find a quiet place to sleep.  “Standing in her field, she said, ‘These cows are far too loud. I must find peace and quiet. I can’t sleep in such a crowd!’” After finding the hen-house, stable, and pig pens too noisy, Cuddly Cow remembers the sheep pasture where she counts the sheep until she falls asleep.  Scheffler’s trademark ink and watercolor illustrations are full of color and cute  expressive animals. The book includes a sound button with cows mooing against a farmyard background,

Anything you didn’t like about it?  The sound button may become annoying if a child keeps pressing it. A bedtime themed book with a sound button is not conducive to sleep.

To whom would you recommend this book?  Children who enjoy farm stories will enjoy this read aloud.

Who should buy this book?  Public libraries

Where would you shelve it?  Board Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this at the top of our “to read” piles? No
