What did you like about the book? Beautiful lilting verse paired with soft evening toned illustrations tell the story of a mother’s love for their child. The book begins with scenes from a forest with animal parents and children including eagles, deer, bears, foxes, rabbits, and possum: “Higher than an eagle flies, pure as sparkling snow, stronger than a stony peak, Mama loves you so.” The soothing lullaby of the text will ease little ones to sleep. The final pages show a mother dog and puppy as well as a human mother and child. “Mama’s love is like the air. Everywhere you go…it wraps around and hugs you close, ‘cause Mama loves you so.” The final wordless doubt page spread shows that all the babies are fast asleep. A perfect bedtime read aloud.
