What did you like about the book? This reference book is filled with large pictures of 25 dinosaurs from 89-65 million years ago. The beginning two pages give an overview of that era in the earth’s history and the end page has a glossary. The dinosaurs of this era were the most recognizable to most people, with the tyrannosaurus rex and triceratops. Many of the other dinosaurs were in Jurassic Park. The language is understandable to children and there is limited text about each dinosaur, therefore not inundating the child with facts. I also liked the way each dinosaur is positioned with a silhouette of either a person or a cat in order to give the child a scale of the size of the dinosaur. This book is one in a series of 6 dinosaur books.
Anything you didn’t like about it? I would have liked to see a phonetic guide to the pronunciation of each dinosaur.
To whom would you recommend this book? This is an excellent book for dinosaur lovers, a great addition to an elementary school library.
Who should buy this book? Public libraries, school libraries.
Where would you shelve it ? 567.9
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? yes
