What did you like about the book? This second book in a series of dinosaur reference books is filled with large pictures of 25 dinosaurs from 127-90 million years ago. The beginning two pages give an overview of that era in the earth’s history and the end page has a glossary. This was a time in the earth’s history when titanosaurs appeared, the largest animals ever to have walked the earth. The language is understandable to children and there is limited text about each dinosaur, therefore not inundating the child with facts. I also liked the way each dinosaur is positioned with a silhouette of either a person or a cat in order to give the child a scale of the size of the dinosaur. As with all these books, there is a reference of which part of the globe was home to each dinosaur.
Anything you didn’t like about it? I would have liked to see a phonetic guide to the pronunciation of each dinosaur.
To whom would you recommend this book? This is an excellent book for dinosaur lovers, a great addition to an elementary school library.
Who should buy this book? Public libraries, school libraries.
Where would you shelve it ? 567.9
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? yes
