What did you like about the book? Matthew is off to kindergarten, but their old green car is having a few problems starting.  It does eventually start and Matthew gets to school, but he’s worries about what will happen if the car doesn’t start again.  Through much deliberation and convincing, Daddy convinces Matthew that if nothing else in the world works, Daddy will use his two long legs to get to school to get Matthew.

The illustrations are so cute and well done with a vintage flair.  In real life, Matthew would have irritated me and caused me to lose my patience very quickly- but in a story setting, this is a very cute book.

Anything you didn’t like about it?  There is nothing I didn’t like.

To whom would you recommend this book?  This is a great book for kids who have trouble with worrying about things.  A read-a-like is “Rainy Day: A Little Moral Story About Worry” by Dan Yaccarino.

Who should buy this book? Children’s libraries

Where would you shelve it? juvenile picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? no
