In the Land of Elves – Daniela Drescher

In the Land of Elves – Daniela Drescher, Floris Books, 9781782502425, 2016

Format: Hardcover

Rating:  (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 2

Genre:  Fantasy, Adventure

What did you like about the book? I enjoyed the rich, detailed illustrations of the elves’ land and their activities during the four seasons. The artistic perspective of the elves’ size in relation to birds, butterflies, mice, etc. was creative in capturing them hidden in nature.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I found it sweet but simplistic, too short and passive with little driving plot. The book was originally written in Germany and displays the lore of fairies, not typically found in America.

To whom would you recommend this book? Children that love fairies and fantasy.

Who should buy this book? Elementary school librarians

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
