Trees – Lemniscates

  Trees – Lemniscates, Candlewick Press, 9780763690014; 2017

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Genre:  Children’s Picture Book

What did you like about the book? The dialogue was very simple and sparse, so the book beautifully relies on the expressive artwork to literally fill in the story. A line from Joyce Kilmer’s poem, “I think that I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree.. springs to mind, because  this book perfectly  illustrates the beauty of trees. Adding “trees clean the air we breathe” brought a new ecological dimension and additional focus to young readers to not only cherish but protect trees.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book?  Elementary  and Children’s Librarians, Parents  exposing children to nature based values

Who should buy this book? Elementary School and public Children’s Room libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
