The Wish Granter – by C.J. Redwine

 The Wish Granter – by C.J. Redwine, Balzer + Bray,  9780062360304, 2017

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Genre: Fantasy

What did you like about the book? The writing is fast-paced, intriguing, and very dark. There are no happy woodland creatures and delicate singing princesses in these fairy tale re-imaginings. The Wish Granter has hope, heartbreak, and a dash of sweet budding romance in a high-stakes gamble to save the ones they love.

I really liked reading about Ari. She’s fierce, loyal, determined and courageous. She’s a fun, friendly character that’s easy to relate to. Her dialogue and quirks bring much-needed moments of levity to this dark tale.

Anything you didn’t like about it?  I enjoyed The Shadow Queen (#1) and wished there had been more flow from the first book to the second.

To whom would you recommend this book? Grades 7+ who enjoy dark fantasy tales.

Who should buy this book? Public/school libraries

Where would you shelve it? YA Fiction

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? no
