Format: Board book
Rating: 1-5 (5 is a starred review) 4
What did you like about the book? Young children who love the dog Spot will enjoy this story. Spot is sick, can’t go out and play with his friends, so his friends come over to cheer him up. It is a simple book, written for very young children. Spot’s mother does all the things a mother does when someone is sick so young children will be able to associate with Spot. He drinks juice, cuddles with his blanket and eats ice cream. Eventually he feels better and is able to go outside and play with his friends.
Anything you didn’t like about it? For being a book written for 1 ½ year olds, this is a perfect book. Children older than that will find the book too babyish.
To whom would you recommend this book? Children ages 1 ½
Who should buy this book? Public libraries, day care centers
Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? yes
