Peekaboo! In the Jungle by Cocoretto

Peekaboo! In the Jungle by Cocoretto, Child’s Play International, 9781846438660, 2016

Format: Board book

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or starred review)  5

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? All little children love playing peekaboo and this book capitalizes on that. With large flaps and a limited number of animals, children can practice guessing, predicting and memory skills as they play peekaboo with the animals in the jungle. It’s child friendly, with large illustrations and large flaps where the page folds out. There are no pull tabs or sliding pulls. Each animal plays peekaboo with their hands in front of their face. The text reads Peek a boo! Who’s there? When the child opens the page out, he sees the entire animal. This is a book that very young children will love reading over and over.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I loved everything about this book. It shows the animals having fun with the game and encourages very young children to guess.

To whom would you recommend this book?  This is a great book for a 1 ½ year old child. Older children will become bored with it very quickly. It is a great first book.

Who should buy this book? Parents of very young children will love this book.

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  Yes
