Format: Board Book
Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4
Genre: Picture book
What did you like about the book? This is a delightful story for young readers or listeners. Mole begins to dig in search of treasure and finds many items that are treasured by others; his best discovery is the treasure of friendship by the tale’s end.
The illustrations are textured with color gradients that make this visually enticing. Repetitive text is great for a predictable story that little ones can even begin to tell with you.
Anything you didn’t like about it? This is a charming repetitive story for beginning readers, but it is one of many; a great supplemental purchase for collections.
To whom would you recommend this book? Recommended for ages 2-3 in storytimes or one-on-one for little ones ready to listen. The subject matter is universal enough that it could fit most audiences. Pair it with “One Little Blueberry” by Tammi Salzano and you’ve got a storytime for a spring, summer, or outdoor theme!
Who should buy this book? Childrens’ library collections (public and school)
Where would you shelve it ? Picture book collection
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Not really.
