Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5
Genre: ABC book
What did you like about the book? This book is so funny! Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a specific pasta or accompaniment, such as herbs and cheese. This book is cleverly done- the pasta is an actual photo and then Medina has drawn an illustration to complete the picture. My favorites are the “yolk-less pasta yodelers” complete with lederhosen and the “gemelli gymnasts” whose legs are all twisted up! Medina has done a splendid job with this book!! (And it made me hungry for pasta!)
Anything you didn’t like about it? There is nothing I didn’t like about this book.
To whom would you recommend this book? This is a great book for kids learning the alphabet and for kids who love silly alphabets. One read-a-like is “Eating the Alphabet” by Lois Ehlert.
Who should buy this book? children’s libraries
Where would you shelve it? juvenile picture book
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes!
