What did you like about the book? Great for early readers, this book helps kids have fun with rhymes. A little boy gets a package and out pops a parrot with instructions that introduces Otto, the amazing rhyming bird. Along with that is a warning to be careful what you say. Very Dangerous! Doug has fun at first, but the rhyming soon escalates into a scary adventure. Luckily Doug rhymes with snug and Doug ends up back in his nice snug bed.

Anything you didn’t like about it? It was confusing how initially Doug was presented with things that rhymed with Doug, but then it changed and he was transformed into things that rhymed with Doug. Aside from the story being confusing for kids, the illustrations were child friendly and funny.

To whom would you recommend this book?  This is recommended for children ages 4-8.

Who should buy this book? Elementary school libraries, public libraries with a children’s room

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  Yes
