Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4
Genre: YA Historical Fiction
What did you like about the book? AJ has enough to contend in his own hopeless, dead-end life without Slim nicking a gangster’s girlfriend and skateboarder Leon, disappearing after his mother’s death. Now he’s got a key with his surname on it that leads to the 19th century. The three lads have to dodge the modern-day while trying to solve a Victorian murder. Really enjoyed this eclectic mix of historical, mystery and fantasy within this interesting story.
Anything you didn’t like about it? The pacing sped up, but it was slow in the beginning. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, and some like Slim and Leon, don’t differ much personality-wise.

Who should buy this book? Middle schools and public libraries
Where would you shelve it? YA fiction
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
