What did you like about the book? A little girl leaves school walking home as the snow begins to fall. Soon it is pretty much a blizzard. She is huffing and puffing when she stumbles on a very young wolf pup separated from its family in the snow. She cuddles the little pup knowing that she needs to find its family. She is following their howls. She reunites the pup with its pack but she is so exhausted now that she stumbles down, falling asleep in the snow. While the little wolf licks her face, the rest of the pack surrounds her howling until her dog and family find her. Aside from the sounds of the wolves and the barking of her dog, the story is wordless. A great lesson in kindness, selflessness and goodness. Illustrations done in pen and ink and watercolor by the inimitable Matthew Cordell make this a perfect book.
To whom would you recommend this book? This would be best shared one-on-one. Might make a very nice bedtime story.
Who should buy this book? Public libraries, child care centers and very K-2 schools.
Where would you shelve it? Picture Books
Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Very near the top.
