Format: Paperback ARC

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Genre: Picture book

What did you like about the book? Samson was an adventurous piranha; he liked to try new things like riding a unicycle, playing tennis or swimming upstream. Unfortunately none of the other piranhas would join him. Samson also wanted to eat different fancy food at fancy restaurants. When one opened, he rushed over – but a piranha was NOT welcome. Samson tried disguises but this did not work either. He discovered that there were other unwanted fish at these restaurants – so what did they do? They opened their own! Colorfully cute illustrations enhance this story about being different, being imaginative and not giving up.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No.

To whom would you recommend this book? This is a nice read-aloud for storytimes about being different and having perseverance when things are not going your way.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries and day-care centers

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Not necessarily
