Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

Genre: Picture book

What did you like about the book? I loved escaping from the daily discord  of present day political reality into a  simplistic yet correlated Frog world.  With the mysterious discovery of the crown, the subsequent crowning of the “queen”, the good and bad consequences of the crown, the eventual rejection of the crown and the return to a peaceful idyllic frog life, this book brings us full circle with an unexpected revolution, that doubles as a funny cautionary tale. I particularly loved that the demise of the frog crown was trumped by a wedding ring!  The very clever frog drawings captivated my attention as I lingered over each page, in hopes of discovering another humorous  illustration.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book? Frog-loving politicians and historians, community organizers, parents and grandparents that want a simple illustrated Animal Farm-like tale!

Who should buy this book? Elementary School librarians

Where would you shelve it ? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
