Format:  Board book

Rating: (1-5, 5 is a starred review) 2

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? As the title says, this is a book about a little dinosaur who comes up against his mother all day, from waking her up early in the morning, to stuffing all his toys in the toilet as she showers. Written in a light-hearted way, this book shows how naughty little dinosaur can be all day, but in the end, mommy wins by giving dinosaur a big hug. This is in a series of dinosaur books that include Dinosaur vs Bedtime, Dinosaur vs the Potty. The colorful, frenzied pictures show just how out of control the little dinosaur is.

Anything you didn’t like about it?  Although targeted for very young children, the illustrations are hard to decipher and I think a parent reading the book would be spending a lot of time telling a very young child that the actions of the dinosaur, though funny, are not acceptable.

To Whom Would You Recommend this book? This is recommended for children ages 1-3, but I wouldn’t read it to someone too young as they might not understand the humor and message.

Who should buy this book? Libraries with children’s rooms.

Where would you shelve it ? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  no
