What did you like about the book? This book in the Where Is…? series gives an overview of the Great Barrier Reef. The book covers the reef’s formation, the history of its inhabitants, the discovery by Capt. Cook, how coral is made, creatures of the reef and environmental impacts that are effecting the reef today. Black and white illustrations include maps. As in other books in the series there are also boxes of supplementary information such as “Boomerangs,” “Steve Irwin,” and “Australia’s First European Settlers.” The book includes a Timeline of Australia as well as a Bibliography. This book would be useful for science or history reports.
To whom would you recommend this book? This would be a good choice for a school report or for readers interested in the ocean and/or Australia.
