Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 3
What did you like about the book? This short story compilation is a collection of a few early-days writings from the late Terry Pratchett (from his days as a 17-year-old junior reporter). There’s some mystery, some sorcery, and some recognizable nugglets of ideas, names, concepts which fans of Pratchett may recognize from later novels. Overall the collection is good but not great.
Anything you didn’t like about it? There are some rather funny shorts but a few that fall flat.
To whom would you recommend this book? It’s something to read if you’re a die-hard fan but not the best to give to someone who has never read Pratchett’s work.
Who should buy this book? Public Libraries
Where would you shelve it? Fantasy (Short Story Collections)
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
