What did you like about the book?  In this fun retelling of the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, a shoemaker and his wife love to dance.  Stan and Jan love making all kinds of shoes, but especially dancing shoes.  The shoemakers love spreading joy through their love of dance, but soon no one is buying shoes anymore.  Magically, just as things seem bleak, Stan and Jan awake to find a marvelous pair of shoes in their store and even better, a customer to buy them.  Night after night, they awake to find the perfect shoes for the perfect customer.  One night they spy and discover three little elves who sing:”We love jumping, leaping, prancing; We were so sad when you stopped dancing. So in we creep while you are dreaming. Making new shoes, bright and gleaming!”  As in the classic tale, the shoemakers decide to leave gifts of clothing and dancing shoes for the elves, who then disappear.  But just in case the elves return, the shoemakers dance every night.  The illustrations are full of bright color and detail that will appeal to young readers.
