Format: Board book
Rating: (1-5, 5 is a starred review) 2
Genre: Picture book
What did you like about the book? This is a slide and seek book that is written in rhyme. Children pull the whole page and an animal appears in the middle part of the book. The whole page slides and when you turn the page, another animal appears on the back of the page.
Anything you didn’t like about it? This is an unwieldy format for a children’s book. It’s unclear which page to pull initially and the animals underneath are hard to distinguish. The rhyme is forced and the illustrations are very busy.
To Whom Would You Recommend this book? Children ages 1-3 might enjoy the book with the help of a parent sliding the pages.
Who should buy this book? This wouldn’t be a good book for a library, as the sliding pages look like they won’t hold up to multiple uses.
Where would you shelve it ? Picture books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? no
