What did you like about the book? A mouse, a cow and a pig are making soup. The mouse and the cow add vegetables; pig wants to add things like umbrellas and galoshes. So the mouse and the cow ask, “Is that wise, pig?” Thomas’s simple vivid cartoons place all the emphasis on the characters, who are very funny. In fact, all of her books are great for a laugh – they are go-to titles for story time. Simple, repetitive story line with expressive facial expressions on the animals make this story time gold. And it’s a counting book. The book would also work as an early reader.

To whom would you recommend this book?  Recommend to folks who like the humor of Mo Willems, and to fans of Thomas’s other books.

Who should buy this book? Day cares, and elementary school and public libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes – admit, you need a laugh today.
