Format:  Board book

Rating: (1-5, 5 is a starred review) 4

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? This first touch and feel book has a part of each animal that is raised and allows the child to feel it. There is a bear, dog, seal, bunny, and many other animals that are being hugged by their mothers and told they are loved. It is written in verse and at the bottom of each page, there is a repeated verse that reinforces how much the mother loves her child. The text is child centered and the touch and feel aspect will engage very young children.

Anything you didn’t like about it?   I liked everything about the book.

To Whom Would You Recommend this book? Very young children ages 1-3 will love this book, as the animals are realistic and the touch and feel aspect is engaging.

Who should buy this book? All libraries. The book is sturdy and the touch and feel part looks like it will hold up to many uses.

Where would you shelve it ? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  yes
