Rating: (1-5, 5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 2
Genre: Picture book
What did you like about the book? Back stage at the Peacock theater was a clever place to stage this fun book and its simple love story. Lazlo delivers a flower to his leading lady, by overcoming many unlucky events while breaking many superstitions. Broken mirror, broken legs, etc. can’t stop Lazlo. The artwork varied very elaborate detailed inkwork with splashes of colorful people, props and animals.
Anything you didn’t like about it? The subject of love is universal, but the story didn’t develop or define “Love” for the child to understand.
To whom would you recommend this book? Elementary school librarians, theater art teachers.
Who should buy this book? Elementary librarians
Where would you shelve it ? Children’s picture books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
