What did you like about the book?  This story of the Nativity was originally published in Sweden in 1962.  This new edition has beautiful new illustrations that are full of details that bring the story to life.  A little donkey is unkempt and dirty, until Joseph buys it for Mary.  Under Mary’s gentle care and grooming, the donkey thrives and becomes a great help to its owners.  The donkey is the one which carries Mary to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus.  The donkey keeps the family safe with the guidance of angels.  The story shows how Mary’s gentleness and kindness changes all who meet her for the better.  This is a nice addition to religious holiday books.
