What did you like about the book?   Jake has been training his puppy, named Kamik, and dreaming of one day becoming a great musher like his uncle.  Jake’s uncle tells him about all the work that goes into raising and training a sled team.  Jake is ecstatic when his uncle allows Kamik to run with his team on a training run.  The picture book is very informative about mushing and is a good introduction to the Inuit culture.  The illustrations bring the dog’s personalities to life along with Jake and his uncle.

Anything you didn’t like about it?  No

To whom would you recommend this book?  Readers interested in mushing and sled dogs will enjoy this story.  Readers who enjoyed the first books in the series, Kamik: an Inuit Puppy Story and Kaki’s First Sled, will welcome this new adventure.  A good introduction to Inuit culture.

Who should buy this book?  Public libraries and elementary school libraries

Where would you shelve it? Picture Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this at the top of our “to read” piles? No
