What did you like about the book?  In a sweet board book, Little Mouse asks his family what makes Christmas magical and they’ll give different answers.  For Grandpa it is sitting by the fire, for brother it’s building a snowman and having a snow ball fight, his cousins love sledding, his sister loves presents, Grandma love Christmas carols, and Daddy loves making decorations and trimming the tree.  But the true magic of Christmas is expressed by his mother. “‘At last, it is Christmas!’ cheers Mommy, ‘We’re together in one happy house! Sharing and feasting and opening gifts –  The magic is love, Little Mouse!’”  The illustrations bring the warm, cozy holiday to life.  Readers will have lots of details to pore over on each double page spread.  A sweet addition to holiday board books.

Anything you didn’t like about it?  The rhyme can be forced at times, but overall it flows very well.

To whom would you recommend this book?  This is a lovely holiday read aloud for young children.

Who should buy this book?  Public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Holiday board books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this at the top of our “to read” piles? No
