Rating: (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 3
Genre: Fiction, Children’s Picture book
What did you like about the book? I enjoyed the very simple story line, that clearly outlines and expresses the emotional give and take of a friendship. By exploring each animal and their individual personalities, the friendship is allowed to go through stages of discomfort, sharing, rejecting, regretting and the joyful reuniting of Pug and Pig. The expressive artwork captures the emotional journey of two new friends that will help young readers learn to identify and verbalize about their own friendships.
Anything you didn’t like about it? It was complete and satisfying, but too short.
To whom would you recommend this book? Preschool parents and children, elementary librarians, dog and specifically pug and pig lovers.
Who should buy this book? Preschool centers, elementary school libraries
Where would you shelve it ? Children’s picture books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
