Format: Hardcover picture book

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5!

What did you like about the book? A really, really, really cute little bird is living in a nest with its Momma. When the little bird looks down from the nest it appears as if she is nesting at the top of a redwood! She is NOT going to fly! “Nope!” she says to her Momma. When she looks down again, she sees a cat just waiting to snatch her; “Nope” not gonna fly. Now there are three salivating wolves waiting for her to leap from the nest. Mom is getting a little exasperated but who could jump into a sea of crocodiles? A million “nopes”. Momma tells the little bird just how much she is loved – and then she boots her from the nest! The illustrations are totally wonderful in this book with two words. A gem not to be missed.

To whom would you recommend this book? This is a funny book, yes, but it is also a nice way to convey to a child that their fears might be conquered with a little bit of courage.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries and child-care centers

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? YES!
