Format: cd audiobook

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Genre: Contemporary realistic fiction

What did you like about the book? When Russell Green’s wife, Vivian, goes back to work when their daughter is five because Russ has been fired from the advertising group he has worked for, she wastes no time in taking up with her wealthy boss and dumping Russ, even leaving Russ, who has opened his own advertising firm, to take on full-time child care of their 5-year-old who has tennis, art, dance and piano lessons! Fortunately for Russ, an old girlfriend turns up to save his day.

Anything you didn’t like about it? Russell Green has got to be the wimpiest doormat/dishrag of a character ever created in fiction. I found him exasperating in the extreme as he just ignored all the horror that his wife heaped upon him (who could blame her??). There was just no limit to how much abuse he was willing to take while whining to friends and family but never changing. He NEVER stands up for himself, never. And his wife would win one of the bi*****st awards.

To whom would you recommend this book? Nicholas Sparks fans.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Adult audiobooks

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? I’m very mixed about that; maybe in the middle of your “to read” pile.
