Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1- 5 (5 is excellent or a Starred review)  4

Genre:  Animal Adventure, Early Reading in a Series

What did you like about the book? I loved the Lighthouse Family as an intentional household of  helpful animals, including a cat Pandora, the dog Seabold, and three mice, Whistler, Lila & Tiny. In Volume 4, The Turtle, we read of the family’s next adventure, as they help a stranded sea turtle return back to the south and warm water. Environmental facts are woven into this story so that children can appreciate  the unique characteristics of nature and the dilemma of leaving one’s ecosystem. The sense of teamwork and problem solving is beautifully highlighted. The illustrations in soft charcoal tones are tender and expressive, with great details to linger over. By the end of Volume 4, you are looking forward to their next adventure.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book?  I would suggest this Lighthouse Series, Vol 4- The Turtle to families and children that have been introduced to the series, love adventure stories, shared together or read alone. The realistic personalities of each character and the values they portray of helping, sharing, in a community will reinforce the love of reading and the positive goals of society.
