Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Genre:  Early reader

What did you like about the book? Spanish translation of the 1987 title Time for Bed, the Babysitter Said. An energetic little frog continually rebuffs his babysitter’s pleas to go to bed. Finally the reader finds out it’s because she didn’t say “please.” Humorous ink and color drawings perfectly capture the dynamic between the little frog and his babysitter. Repetition and short sentences make this appealing to new readers. The Spanish translation doesn’t completely capture the rhythm of the English text, but the humor and universal appeal of the story still shine through.

To whom would you recommend this book?  Offer this to beginning Spanish readers

Who should buy this book? Elementary and public school libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Beginning Spanish readers

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
