Format:  Hardcover

Rating: (1-5) 5 is a starred review: 4

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? There are lots of ways for parents to show and say they love their child. In this peaceful book, animal and bird families show love in their everyday activities. The text is written in rhyme with very few words. An illustration of a duck mother on one page shows baby ducks learning to fly with the words “I start you” and on the next page, there is a mother duck sitting with her two ducklings with the words, “I stop you.” The illustrations mesh nicely with the text. I loved the flow of the book and the gentleness.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about the book, except that the use language is unconventional and might be confusing to children learning English or young toddlers.

To Whom Would You Recommend this book? Children ages 2-4 will love the illustrations and with parental explanation will understand the text.

Who should buy this book? all libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  Yes
