Format:  Hardcover

Rating: (1-5) 5 is a starred review: 4

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? This is a book of opposites. Big bear and little mouse walk through the forest and find opposites along the way, quiet woods, loud friends. The book is cumulative in that after each opposite they find, they add it to the list and repeat the list each time. The vocabulary is advanced and more interesting than expected in a children’s book. Badger moseys slowly and raven flutters. The illustrations are eye catching and fun.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about the book.

To Whom Would You Recommend this book? This is a great book for a read aloud at a library or in a kindergarten class. The illustrations are large and the repeated language would engage the children. They could repeat the opposites with Bear and Little Mouse.

Who should buy this book? all libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  Yes
