What did you like about the book? Stylized animals populate the pages of this bedtime storybook. The bold color palette transitions from the brights of the day to the deep tones of the night. The animals of the forest are sleepy, all except for Little Bear who still wants to play. Night falls and all go to bed, including (eventually) Little Bear. Flaps that get progressively bigger as the animals do add to the reading experience.
The endpapers provide an astronomy lesson far beyond the scope of the story.
Anything you didn’t like about it? The slight story had little to add to the canon of bedtime stories. Their yawns left me yawning too.
To whom would you recommend this book? (Read-alikes if you can think of them)- Who should buy this book? Preschools.
Where would you shelve it? Picture Books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No.
