Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4
Genre: juvenile picture book
What did you like about the book? This is the story of Tom Sawyer told in a more simple way for children to understand. It tells the same story about Tom and all the trouble he’s always getting into and out of. The illustrations are simple and well done, with bright colors and emotion. The way the pictures are laid out, it looks like mixed media art- it’s very clever.
Anything you didn’t like about it? Nothing.
To whom would you recommend this book? I would recommend this to anyone who loves adventure and classic stories. Read-a-likes are (if you can handle more content) “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” both by Mark Twain.
Who should buy this book? children’s libraries
Where would you shelve it? juvenile picture book
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
