Rating: (1-5) 5 is a starred review: 4

Genre:  Picture book

What did you like about the book? This tongue-in-cheek book goes through all the steps it takes to catch a truck and then train it. It is a large picture book and the illustrations draw trucks from all different perspectives. The text is amusing and older children will understand the humor. If you want to have an ice cream truck for a pet, understand that they migrate south for the winter! The story shows a little boy who realizes that if he wants a pet truck, he can’t just go to the local pet store and ask for one. He has to go out into the truck’s natural habitat and trick it in order to catch it. This step by step guide of catching and training a truck is lots of fun to read.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about this book.

To Whom Would You Recommend this book? Children who love trucks will love this book. Although the illustrations will appeal to children as young as 1 ½, the text is much too complicated for very young children to understand. Older children, ages 4-8 will enjoy it.

Where would you shelve it ? Children’s Books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  Yes
