What did you like about the book? It’s 1845. English nurse Lib Wright has been hired to “watch” an eleven-year-old Irish girl, Anna, to see if she is eating anything. The neighborhood doctor believes that he has a miracle child on his hands for Anna has not eaten in four months but is happy and healthy. This is not a job that Lib is happy doing. She’s shares duties with a nun where together they are with the girl 24 hours a day for two weeks. Lib is convinced that the girl is getting food from somewhere but she has to find out where. The atmosphere is extremely tense for the entirety of the story.

In this audio version, Kate Lock expertly does the reading.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No.

To whom would you recommend this book? Recommend this to those who like historical fiction about Ireland.

Who should buy this book? All public libraries; high school libraries as well.

Where would you shelve it? Adult audiobooks.

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? YES!
